*Sigh* Singaporeans...

I was taking bus 198 home yesterday evening after a long day of teaching. Managed to grab a seat just by the exit and I sat down of course, as I was carrying really heavy stuff. At the next stop, a young mother carrying her daughter and a female friend of hers board the bus. They moved into the bus looking for a seat but all the seats were taken. The bus moved on and the mother was moving unsteadily inwards.

Nobody moved. Not even the well-built man in front of me. Maybe he was pretending to sleep with his eyes closed. I stood up and offered my seat. The young mother sat down. No gesture of appreciation. Not even a word of "thank you".

What can be more disturbing? Those who were keeping their butts on their seats or the young mother?

Hmmm... People are like that lah... Would still take quite long before they can & will change...

Though I may be wrong but perhaps the young mother was too tired to say "Thank You"...? And maybe the well-built man you mentioned just got off from a hard day of work which required him to stand all day...? Strangely, why did you pinpoint this guy out when the bus was full of others whom didn't give up their seats...?

Anyway, things are not that bad lah... There are also cases whereby people do give up their seats to people whom need them more... From my observation, people more willing to do so for the elderly & pregrant ladies... Also, it says something that you were annoyed that nobody was willing to give up their seats... If things were that bad, you won't feel annoyed since you won't be expecting people to give up their seats...

Well, for what it's worth, I would say that it was a kind-hearted act of yours to give up your seat when you were so tired yourself... And don't let this incident discourage you from doing so in the future...

well, it does seem to me as tho' most ppl are indifferent towards giving up their seat. I guess, even myself ba, sometimes...esp when it's been hard getting a seat...i'd think more before giving the seat up...

neh. i still give up my seat. At least, in this way, u dun feel guilty for not giving up the seat to someone who needs it more than u.

dunno arh... once i gave up my seat thrice on my way to school... and i felt really a bit sianz coz i was also very tired etc etc... but i tink it's worst coz they dun bother to say thank you etc... and it seems like they expect you to give up your seat... the elderly on the other hand, sometimes refuse to take your seat even if you give up to them!1 ARgh!~!~!~ >.<
but i think the biggest headache is still with those pregnant women.. =s 1. sometimes you just dun know if they're pregnant or not!? 2. they think they deserve to sit down even though there might also be other people around them who need the seat 3. most are just plain rude. (hm~ and since most pregnant women are usually quite young... i suppose that says something about our younger generation... Haiz~ i hope i don't turn into one of them next time!)
